Although the holidays are a joyous time for some, this food-focused, hectic season can be challenging when youâre working towards recovery from an eating disorder or healing your relationship with food and your body. Here are our gift ideas to give yourself or your loved ones to help nourish the mind, body, and spirit this holiday season.
Books
Anti-Diet: Reclaim Your Time, Money, Well-Being, and Happiness Through Intuitive Eating
This new book by Christy Harrison, Registered Dietitian and host of the Food PsychÂź podcast, will be released on 12/24. Weâre big fans of Christy and all sheâs done to bring the principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every SizeÂź to a wider audience. Although we havenât had a chance to read Anti-Diet yet ourselves, early buzz suggests this book will be a must-have addition to our bookshelf.
Intuitive Eating Book and Workbook
Intuitive Eating is the go-to guide to help you give up dieting and nurture a healthier relationship with food. Each edition of the book gets better (the 4th edition will be released on 6/23/20 and is available for pre-order now), and the workbook is full of assessments and written exercises to help you learn how to tune into and honor your bodyâs cues.
Body Respect: What Conventional Health Books Get Wrong, Leave Out, and Just Plain Fail to Understand about Weight
Body Respect provides a clear review of current research to show us why dieting and the pursuit of weight loss is a misguided and harmful approach to improving health. Using both science and social justice theory, the authors debunk myths promoted by the diet industry, media, and medical professionals and offer alternatives to improve health for people of all sizes.

News and Updates
Last month, I had the honor of presenting twice at the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) Annual Conference in Montreal. I first spoke on vegan diets in dancers (co-presented with psychotherapist, Dawn Theodore, & London-based dietitian, Jasmine Challis), and then Dawn and I presented on âThe Language of Eating Disorders: Are You Helping or Harming?â
Iâm grateful for this opportunity to speak on these important topics that Iâm so passionate about. It was inspiring to be in the company of so many fellow dance/dance medicine colleagues committed to improving the health and well-being of dancers.
As the new year approaches, Iâm excited for new opportunities to further my mission of keeping dancers healthy from Head to PointeÂź. You can read more about my workshops for dancers and those involved in their training & care here.
